August

Well, I know it's been a while but there has just been SO much happening these last 3 weeks! First off, I just have to say that the Lord is so good. He has been teaching us so much lately.  He is sovereign and incontrol; He watches over His children and He is our Good Shepherd.  And when you think He has placed something in your life that is too painful just remember that it is to get your attention- to get your eyes off yourself and onto the Creator, the Mighty Savior, Lord of lords- Jesus! The Lord is reminding me daily that He deserves all the glory no matter what the cost, whether it feels easy or not but to trust what He is doing in my life to make me look more like Him.

And directly tied to that, Matt and I are praising the Lord for blessing us with the privilege of being at Master's and serving college students.  Also, praise the Lord, Matt just got a job 2 days ago! He will be working at the college in the Financial Aid Department as a financial aid counselor, which will allow him plenty of time to study and hang out with the guy students in the dorms- WOOT!

So between the last post until now many things have happened....

All my RAs showed up and we had RA retreat and spent a week just training with them and getting to know them a little bit better.  We shared lots of meals together and oh yes, I did introduce them to ALIAS : )  But spent time praying for the girls in the dorm and for the year ahead of us.

Matt started seminary and so he has been working on his first 2 classes- Hebrew and Old Testament.  He is working so hard and I have been quizzing him on his Hebrew flashcards.

Matt and I both went on a week long retreat with all the students in leadership to Palm Desert for the SLS RETREAT.  Four days spent in 110 weather (not an exaggeration) laughing, singing, studying, praying and planning for the year.  There was just a lot of great moment of us thinking to ourselves, "We have the best jobs ever..."  So thankful to be here and that the Lord would choose us to minister to these students when we are sure there are plenty of other people who could be doing this.  This job has instantly revealed all my weakness and reminded me that no day is to be started without prayer and planning so as to be most affective for Christ.

My RAs are GREAT : ) So thankful for each of them, and it is so neat to see how the Lord has put our team together.  Please continue to pray for our eyes to be on the Lord and not ourselves and to be far more concerned with His glory and not our own.  And that we would be motivated to serve others because of Christ's love for us.

Here are some pics from the last couple weeks too!

One of our students found a tarantula and HE ATE IT!!

Here are me and 3 of the 4 of my RAs: Abby, Liz, and Brooke : )

This is me and my fellow women RDs and the Associate Dean of Women: Jen, Me, Karrie (Dean) Summer and Rae! I love them all- they are such an encouragement to me!

Here are all the girl RAs for the school year!

During RA retreat we all went to the beach in Santa Monica- this is the boardwalk....

This is my Head RA Brooke- love her!

Matt and I snuck away one night and had a date in town- dinner, live jazz music, and a movie!

Before SLS Retreat we made a late night run to Walmart to get stuff to show our dorm pride- go C-DUB!

Yesterday was move in day for all the freshman and transfer students- we like to call it WOW week (week of welcome).  It was a great day and I can't wait until all the other ladies get here!!

Here are me and my lovely RAs- they did a great day of getting their girls moved in and it was so fun to see them in action!  It's gonna be a wonderful year and I can't wait to know them better and serve them in any way that I can.

So to sum up- things are good.  We miss our families and friends a lot but we pray for you all and can't wait to see people over the holidays or whenever people come down to visit.  Much love and God is good!
